Terms of Service
Effective date: 1 July 2025
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to all carpentry and joinery services supplied by I Do Carpentry Pty Ltd (ABN 89 701 948 665) and to your use of our website at https://idocarpentry.site. By engaging us for work, accepting our written quote or using this website, you agree to these Terms.
1. About These Terms
These Terms, together with any written quote, scope of works or works order we issue, form the entire agreement between you and I Do Carpentry Pty Ltd for the relevant job. If there is any inconsistency between these Terms and your written quote for a particular job, the quote prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
2. Who We Are
I Do Carpentry Pty Ltd (ABN 89 701 948 665) is a carpentry and joinery business providing services to homes and businesses across Perth, Western Australia. You can reach us at ceo@idocarpentry.site or through our contact page.
3. Quotes, Estimates and Scope of Work
- All prices are quoted in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable.
- Written quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless the quote states otherwise, and are based on the conditions we observed at the time of inspection.
- Ballpark figures or estimates given without a site inspection are indicative only and are not a fixed price.
- The scope of work is limited to the items listed in your written quote. Anything not listed is out of scope until it is agreed as a variation.
4. Deposits, Payment and Invoices
- Where a deposit is required to secure materials and a place in our schedule, the deposit amount and any progress payment schedule will be set out in your written quote and will comply with the applicable Western Australian laws governing home building contracts.
- Invoices are payable within 7 days of the date of issue unless your quote states otherwise. Final payment is due on practical completion of the works.
- Payment is made by direct bank transfer using the account details shown on our invoice.
- If an invoice remains unpaid, we may suspend work, reschedule upcoming jobs and recover the reasonable costs of pursuing the debt.
5. Variations
Any change to the agreed scope of work — including additions, substitutions or work arising from hidden conditions — must be agreed as a written variation (an email is sufficient) before it is carried out. Variations may affect the price and completion time. The only exception is where immediate action is genuinely necessary to make a site safe; in that case we will explain what was done and why as soon as practicable.
6. Consumer Guarantees Under Australian Law
Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) that cannot be excluded. These include that services will be:
- rendered with due care and skill;
- reasonably fit for any purpose you made known to us; and
- supplied within a reasonable time.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies those consumer guarantees or any other rights you have under Australian law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where the Australian Consumer Law permits us to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having the services supplied again.
7. Workmanship and Materials
In addition to your consumer guarantee rights, we provide a 12-month workmanship warranty on our labour from practical completion, covering defects caused by our work. We will rectify any such defect at no cost to you once you give us written notice and reasonable access. Materials and fixtures we install may also be covered by the manufacturer’s or supplier’s warranty, and we will pass on the benefit of those warranties to you where we are able to.
8. Access to Your Property
- You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to the work area at the agreed times, including vehicle and materials access where practicable.
- Please clear the work area of furniture and personal belongings, and secure pets, before we arrive.
- You must tell us about any hazards you are aware of, such as asbestos, live wiring or fragile roofing.
- We work to Western Australian work health and safety requirements. If conditions are unsafe, we may pause work until they are resolved, and any lost time will be rescheduled.
- We ask that you provide access to power and water where the works reasonably require them.
9. Cancellations, Delays and Weather
- You may cancel or reschedule a booked job by giving us written notice. If materials have already been ordered or work has commenced, reasonable costs already incurred are payable.
- We may need to adjust start dates or reschedule due to weather, supplier delays, illness or safety issues. We will let you know as soon as we can and agree a new time with you.
- Wet weather may delay external work such as decking and cladding, as some timber work should not proceed in unsuitable conditions.
10. Liability
Nothing in this clause limits or excludes any consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit or loss of enjoyment of your property; and
- our total liability for any claim relating to a particular job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, and the version in force is the one published on the date you accept a quote or engage us. Changes do not apply retrospectively to jobs already underway unless we agree in writing.
